SUBJECT: National Work Zone Awareness Week
CAWP TO AGAIN PARTICIPATE IN WORK ZONE AWARENESS WEEK APRIL 3-9
The seventh annual National Work Zone Awareness Week will be held during the week of April 3-9, 2006. The National Work Zone Awareness Week was started by the Federal Highway Administration in 2000, and is supported by a large network of government and industry partners. The focus of the national campaign is to highlight the dangers to workers and motorists when driving through construction work zones.
The Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania is once again working in conjunction with Associated Pennsylvania Constructors to spread the word on Work Zone Awareness. CAWP is asking contractors to help increase this public awareness campaign by placing Variable Message Signs (VMS) along roadways alerting motorists to the issue and hopefully heightening their awareness.
Two messages are provided for this year’s campaign. Option # 1 can be used for night-time work zones and Option # 2 can be used for day-time or other applications.
