The Cement Masons Apprentice Program is a three year program consisting of 3,000 hours on -the-job training and 144 hours related instruction. Applications are accepted once a year during the first two weeks of April at the training site.
Apprentices are trained on-the-job and in the classroom at the A.J. Furlan Building in Pittsburgh, PA.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDE:
1. Be at least 18 at the time of acceptance into the Program.
3. Have a high school diploma or GED.
4. Have a valid drivers license.
5. Reside within the jurisdiction of Cement Masons Local Union #526 (33 counties of western Pennsylvania)
6. Have dependable transportation.
6. Good physical condition, manual dexterity, eye-arm coordination.
8. Pass a drug test - Drug use is not tolerated in the construction industry where safety is a life and death issue.
Admission Requirements of the JAC (Joint Apprenticeship Committee):
-Qualify on aptitude test administered by the PA Employment Service.
-Personal interview.
-Union initiation fees and dues.
