Testifying on Public-Private Partnerships of Roads

On May 24, Highway Users President & CEO Greg Cohen testified before the House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit on the current hot topic of public private partnerships and the leasing of public roads to private companies. Cohen described the opportunities and threats presented by PPPs, as identified by the Highway Users' Planning and Government Affairs Committee (PGA). The biggest concerns with PPPs are the potential for misused revenue, lack of transparency, and extreme toll hikes.
