The Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania is sponsoring the Kid’s Construction Safety Calendar Contest for children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews of CAWP Contractor members!
Kicking off Friday, June 22, 2007, the calendar contest is aimed at promoting the importance of safety in the heavy and highway construction industry. Participants are asked to color a picture showing their parent or relative working safely on a heavy and highway project. Before the children begin to draw, parents or relatives are encouraged to talk to their children about the importance of safety on a project they have worked on, and the measures that were taken to ensure a safe working environment. Examples may include discussions on the importance of personal protective equipment, highway work zone safety, trench safety, working around heavy equipment, fall protection, maintaining a drug-free workplace, and general safety awareness. This is a great opportunity to provide a positive outlet for discussion on what construction safety, as well as general safety, means for the entire family.
All entries are due postmarked by August 20, 2007. The calendar will feature twelve winning drawings selected from four different age groups ranging from ages 5-12. The top three entries from the four age groups will win savings bonds up to $1,000!
Available below are the contest rules and entry forms. We encourage you to mass produce and distribute the forms to your employees via paycheck stuffers, company newsletters, bulletin boards, etc. To have additional contest rules and entry forms mailed to you, contact Rebecca at the Association at 412-343-8000 or rhomitz@cawp.org.
