The Senate Appropriations Committee today approved its version of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2008.
The bill provides a federal-aid highway obligation limitation of $40.2 billion, $1.1 billion over FY 2007, and includes the $630 million in additional Revenue Aligned Budget Authority (RABA) funding not recommended in the President's request. The committee-approved recommendation for federal-aid highway funding matches the amount included in the House version of the bill and is the level authorized in SAFETEA-LU for FY 2008. In addition, the Senate bill provides $3.5 billion in airport improvement grants, approximately $100 million less than the amount pending in the House bill.
