CAWP Promotes DOT Compliance Event

On Saturday, August 28th, contractors brought their trucks to the Heinz Field lots to get specific recommendations on DOT compliance. Mock inspections were performed by the region’s motor carrier enforcement officers to raise safety awareness. Officers checked licensing, registrations, vehicle weights, load securement, safety equipment, and overall vehicle maintenance. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) was onsite to discuss the upcoming CSA 2010 initiative. The public event saw a large number of small and large dump trucks, some loaded and some with attached trailers hauling equipment. The non-enforcement event was attended by equipment and material haulers, fleet managers, safety advocates, and industry representatives.
