Cement Mason Apprentice Wins Great Lakes Apprenticeship Competition
Second year Apprentice,
Mike Coffee, won first place in the recent Great Lakes Apprenticeship Competition. The competition, held August 3-6 at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, hosted over a dozen cement masons and plasterers from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Canada, Indiana, and Kentucky. This was the first year that an apprentice from Cement Masons Local #526 has won the competition. Apprentices displayed their skills by laying cement, form work, and cutting, and were judged on the trueness of their cuts. Coffee is currently employed by Walsh Construction.
