CAWP Participates in Trip to D.C. to Promote Mon-Fayette Expressway

CAWP Executive Director Rich Barcaskey joined other members of the Expressway Partnership Initiative to urge Senators Arlen Specter (D-PA) and Bob Casey (D-PA) to support the completion of PA Route 51 to I-376 of the Mon-Fayette Expressway.  The economic benefits of the project are many and include improving accessibility throughout the region, reducing backup at the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and on PA Route 51, improving access to nine major brownfield sites, and providing access for several manufacturing and related firms.  The group discussed ways to allocate funding for the project in the next federal surface transportation reauthorization bill, which is now being debated in Congress.
