CAWP to Receive $930,000 Grant from the EPA to Retrofit Members Off-Road Diesel Equipment

In April of 2009, the Constructors Association submitted an application to the Environmental Protection Agency for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act National Clean Diesel Funding in the amount of $930,000. The Association received notice in June that its application was tentatively approved and will receive funding in 2009 and 2010. The funding will support the CAWP Diesel Retrofit Project, which aims to reduce diesel emissions on off-road diesel equipment operated in western Pennsylvania.

The project proposes to repower engines, upgrade engines, or install diesel particulate filters on 23 pieces of off-road diesel equipment owned and operated by CAWP member contractors. An official EPA press announcement will take place at the Association on August 13th at 11:30 a.m. Information will be sent out shortly to members on how to participate in this diesel retrofit project. Partnering on this project with the Association are the Associated General Contractors of America, Caterpillar, and Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc.
