Future Contractors and Engineers Tour Area Projects
Penn State Professional Engineer and Contractor (PSPEC) students who are majoring in Structural Design and Construction Engineering Technology visited CAWP on October 26 and 27 for their annual project site tours and banquet.
Each year, the Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania and the Master Builders’ Association host this event, giving the AGC student chapter the chance to experience the construction industry with local contractors.
This year the students toured the Joseph B. Fay Company Turnpike reconstruction project. The students took a 14-mile round trip bus tour through the project, led by Jason Sinay of Joseph B. Fay Company. In the evening, students attended a banquet, which provided them the opportunity to meet with CAWP contractors to discuss the construction industry. The following day, PSPEC students toured the Bethel Park High School project with Massaro Construction.
Thank you to the following volunteers who helped make both days a success: Matt Aubele, Travelers, Rick Bowers, Mascaro Contracting, Jason Sinay, Joseph B. Fay Company, and Ann Michalski, Joseph B. Fay Company. Also, a special thanks to Tom Weber of Swank Associated Companies for discussing the benefits of obtaining a PE license and to Bill Woodford from Trumbull Corporation for presenting a 45-minute seminar on Design Build in the Highway Industry. Thank you also to Cleveland Brothers for donating a model Caterpillar D7E Dozer for Dr. Cecere.
