CAWP DIESEL RETROFIT PROJECT – NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Applications due by email or fax no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2011.

The Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania is now accepting the second round of applications from CAWP contractor members for diesel retrofit funding opportunities in western Pennsylvania.

SUMMARY

CAWP received over $929,000 in 2010 to fund the CAWP Diesel Retrofit Project through a 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act National Clean Diesel Grant. This United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant was provided to reduce diesel emissions from off-road diesel equipment operated in western Pennsylvania. To date, the project has retrofitted 30 diesel-powered construction vehicles owned by CAWP members with new cleaner engines, engine upgrades, or verified diesel particulate filters (DPFs).

In 2011, CAWP received over $300,000 in additional funds and is accepting applications to retrofit seven additional machines. This second round of retrofits must be completed by August 2011. Also, CAWP has submitted proposals for additional EPA retrofit grant funding for which CAWP anticipates the notice of award by April 2011.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Members interested in this retrofit project should download these documents for review:

Fact Sheet
Equipment List
Application

Note:
— One application should be submitted for each machine being requested for retrofit
— Companies can submit more than one application per machine model
— Only machines listed on the equipment list (with matching machine serial number prefix and engine arrangement numbers) are eligible for the program, as those specific machine models have Tier 1 repower solutions available

Specific equipment questions including whether or not a specific machine matches a machine on the equipment list should be addressed prior to or during the conference call.

Submit Applications by email or fax no later than 4:00 p.m.

SELECTION PROCESS

CAWP expects to tentatively select contractors by Friday, March 4, 2011. This process will consist of CAWP selecting applications by machine model. A company will not be selected twice for a particular machine model unless no other applications are received for that model. If multiple companies submit applications for the same machine model, then the selection will be based on a random drawing.
