Make Sure Your Company Employees’ Children Enter the 2012 CAWP Kids Construction Safety Calendar Contest
Want to motivate and inspire the next generation of road builders? Do you want to add some fun to your next picnic or family event?
Create a long-lasting memory by having children ages 5-12 participate in the 2012 Kids Construction Safety Calendar Contest. Sponsored by the Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania, the contest is open to children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews of CAWP Contractor and *Associate members, H2AP Contractors, and heavy/highway Union members. (*only Associate members who perform onsite services or work)
The calendar contest is aimed at promoting the importance of safety in the heavy and highway construction industry.
Participants are asked to color a picture showing their parent or relative working safely on a heavy and highway project. Before the children begin to draw, parents or relatives are encouraged to talk to their children about the importance of safety on a project, and the measures that are taken to ensure a safe working environment. Examples may include discussions on the importance of personal protective equipment, highway work zone safety, trench safety, working around heavy equipment, fall protection, maintaining a drug-free workplace, and general safety awareness. Drawings relating to work zone safety may be utilized during our annual work zone safety campaign in April 2012. This is a great opportunity to provide a positive outlet for discussion on what construction safety, as well as general safety, means for the entire family.
All entries are due postmarked by August 12, 2011. The calendar will feature twelve winning drawings selected from four different age groups ranging from ages 5-12. These twelve winners will receive a combined total of $11,000 in savings bonds!
