CAWP to Host Reception for Congressman Altmire
The Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania will be hosting a reception for Congressman Jason Altmire on
Friday, January 8, 2010, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the Penn City Grille in the Westin Convention Center Hotel. The reception will be held in conjunction with the CAWP/H2AP Monte Carlo/Annual Dinner.
Congressman Altmire is serving his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he represents all or parts of six counties in western Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the following Committees: Transportation and Infrastructure; Small Business; and Education and Labor. A recent non-partisan study of congressional votes identified him as having the most centrist voting record in Congress, and he is also one of only two members of the House to have made every one of the more than 2,000 votes cast during the past two sessions of Congress.
In addition to being a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and a strong advocate for the immediate passage of federal surface transportation reauthorization legislation, Congressman Altmire has a 100% voting record with CAWP and AGC in the 111th Congress, and is a co-sponsor of a House bill that would repeal the 3 percent tax withholding requirement on government contracts. Recently, amid great pressure from the White House and the Speaker of the House, Congressman Altmire voted against the Cap-and-Trade bill, which could negatively impact all industries including construction, and the Healthcare bill, which would require employer mandates on health insurance.
