With the polls closing the night of May 18, two southwestern Pennsylvania men were nominated to run for election for the state’s next Governor. As expected, Attorney General Tom Corbett easily defeated state representative Sam Rohrer for the Republican nomination for Governor. On the Democratic side, Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato, with 45.1% of the votes, prevailed in a four man race, beating out Auditor General Jack Wagner (24.2%), state senator Anthony Williams (18%) and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel (12%).

The stage is now set for the general election. The Pennsylvania gubernatorial election of 2010 will be held on November 2, 2010. The winning candidates will serve a four-year term from 2011 to 2015.
