SUBJECT: Mid-Atlantic Safety and Health Alliance Safety Conference
The Mid-Atlantic Safety and Health Alliance (MASHA) announced its second annual safety conference will be held on April 29, 2010. In 2007, MASHA was organized as a not for profit alliance to promote awareness of proactive safety and health practices through education and professional networking opportunities.
The MASHA 2010 Safety and Health Conference is open to everyone and features three separate tracks (Construction, General Industry, and Healthcare) to meet the region’s needs of continuing education in safety. The following is a summary of the Construction track:
- “Health Hazards in Construction” – Travis Parsons, Laborers Health and Safety Fund of North America
- “Leading Safety Indicators of Construction Incidents – Andy Peters, Parsons Corporation
- “An In-Depth Look at Retractable and Horizontal Lifelines” – Bob Wengryn, Miller Fall Protection
- “Fleet Safety in Construction” – Jami McClellan, Zurich
The featured speaker is Ed Selker, OSHA Region III – Deputy Regional Administrator, who will present the keynote address. Mr. Selker had been with OSHA since 1976. He has served as the Assistant Area Director for Health for the Pittsburgh Area Office and the Area Director for the Erie Area Office.
