SUBJECT:     Mid-Atlantic Safety and Health Alliance Announces Safety Conference    

     The Mid-Atlantic Safety and Health Alliance (MASHA) announced its first safety conference will be held on October 1, 2009 and is open to anyone.  MASHA was organized as a not for profit alliance in October 2007, to promote awareness of proactive safety and health practices through education and professional networking opportunities.   

     The keynote address is “The Changing Face of OSHA under the Obama Administration”, by Richard Fairfax, Director Directorate of Enforcement Programs (OSHA).  The conference has three separate tracks to meet the region’s needs of continuing education in safety.  These tracks are General Industry, Construction, and Healthcare.  The following is a summary of the Construction track:
     -                 Updates on Cranes - Bill Davis, Zurich
     -                 Fall Protection (Focus on Confined Spaces) – Bob Wengryn, Miller Fall Protection
     -                 The Financial Impact of Construction Safety – Bob Hegberg, CRS
     -                 Scaffolding – Rob Winters, Patent Scaffolding
     -                 The Real Cost of Safety – Rich McElhaney, Taggart Global
