AGC Buy America Survey- FHWA Review Underway

AGC is assisting the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on a study it is conducting on Buy America contracting requirements in the federal-aid highway program. The objectives of this study include: (1) estimating the annual use of iron and steel materials in the federal-aid highway program, (2) investigating types of documentation available for various steel and iron products, and (3) capturing the perspectives of various stakeholders, including State DOTs, AASHTO Committees, construction, and steel industry associations. Federal Buy America policy requires the use of domestic steel and iron in Federal-aid funded highway contracts. The use of foreign steel or iron materials or products in a Federal-aid project is prohibited with few exceptions. Increased emphasis on Buy America requirements has resulted in greater scrutiny of compliance. AGC has developed a brief survey to assist in responding to FHWA’s inquiry. Please take a few minutes to respond to AGC’s Buy America survey.
