CAWP Annual Meeting

The 2024 CAWP Annual Meeting was held February 7 – 11, 2024 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Over 250 attendees enjoyed four days of networking, educational sessions, social events and more!  

Attendees gathered together at an outdoor Welcome Reception, complete with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dinner. Guests were treated to two special meet and greet experiences with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider as well as Belle and the Beast. Following dinner, the group gathered together to take in the fireworks display at the nearby Magic Kingdom.

CAWP Working for You

CAWP Executive Director Rich Barcaskey, CAWP Director of Industry Relations Jason Koss and CAWP Director of Events Emily Marotte began the sessions with an overview of the Association’s work for the last year while highlighting initiatives that will be occurring in 2024. They also discussed updates on Workforce Development programs and ways you and your organization can get involved. 

LEGISLATIVE UPDATES

Attendees received legislative updates pertinent to the heavy/highway construction industry. This session began with a federal level update by Jimmy Christianson, AGC Vice President, Government Relations, and Jim Young, AGC Senior Director, Congressional Relations for Labor, HR and Safety. The session continued with an update at the state level by Rob Vescio, C & G Strategies 

CRISIS RESPONSE

Chris Martin, President of Atlas Marketing, provided an overview of the importance of having a crisis response plan in place for your organization. He led attendees through a workbook that functions as a step-by-step guide to create the best crisis response plan for their individual organizations

CAWP Annual Meeting Social Functions

Group Dinner

The traditional group dinner was held at the American Pavilion in EPCOT. Attendees gathered under the rotunda, and enjoyed a delicious meal, cocktails, and dessert. Special guests Mickey and Minnie Mouse were on hand to meet and greet all the guests while everyone enjoyed listening to a great playlist of Disney hits.   

Following dinner, the group moved outside to Italy Isola to get a picture perfect view of the evening’s dramatic fireworks show. 

Closing Brunch 

On Saturday, February 10, attendees enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet where attendees were able to visit with one another and meet Pixar favorites Mike and Sully and Mr. & Mrs. Incredible before enjoying the afternoon to themselves before heading home.
