On Friday, March 20, 2026, nearly 690 safe supervisors were honored at the CAWP / H2AP Safety Banquet held at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, PA.

The industry gathered to celebrate outstanding safety records of individuals and companies in the prior construction season. Twenty-five CAWP and H2AP contractor members received the 2025 Safety Award for having no lost time accidents and three were recognized for having a Lost Workday Incidence Rate at or below the national average for highway construction.

Attendees enjoyed reception style food stations, multiple bars, and time to network and connect with industry colleagues. Additionally, several CAWP members offering safety services and supplies participated in the Safety Expo during the reception.

Lifesaving Award

The CAWP / H2AP Lifesaving Award is an honor reserved for those groups or individuals who make an extraordinary effort to help save the life of another.

Emergency lifesaving situations require the ability and presence of mind to act effectively, swiftly and selflessly. These incidents are few in number but have a common thread linking them together – individuals who make a brave and heroic effort to save a family member, friend, co-worker or stranger.

 This year, we honor superintendent

Dave Yeager

from Swank Construction Company, LLC.

On June 19, 2025, during a bridge deck replacement project on Route 66 near Ford City, Dave observed a woman running through a closed lane of the construction zone. When she climbed onto the bridge’s parapet wall, he immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation. Remaining calm and compassionate, he approached carefully, speaking with kindness and offering a helping hand. Through patience and reassurance, he guided her safely back to the bridge deck and escorted her off the bridge until police and medical personnel arrived.

For his quick thinking, courage, and compassion in preventing a tragedy, CAWP & H2AP was proud to present Dave Yeager with the 2025 Lifesaving Award.
