CAWP and H2AP members gathered and celebrated the heavy/highway construction industry on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Acrisure Stadium. Over 700 attendees enjoyed an extended Monte Carlo reception, food and beverages before honoring several deserving individuals for their contributions to the industry.   

CAWP President Ali Mills, Plum Contracting, Inc. welcomed the attendees to the event before CAWP Executive Director Rich Barcaskey reviewed the activities of the Association in 2025 and discussed goals for 2026.  

The program continued with recognizing the awardees for the evening. First, Ali Mills was recognized as the outgoing Association President. Ali’s term was historic for the Association, as she was the first woman elected to the Board, as well as the first woman to serve as Secretary / Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the CAWP Board of Governors. Ali brought consistency and heart to everything she touched at CAWP. She didn’t just do her job — she elevated it.

CAWP CLC Annual Brandon Chaney Scholarship Ceremony

The highlight of the program was the announcement of the 2025 Brandon Chaney CLC Scholarship awardees by CAWP CLC Chairperson Josh Fetcko and CAWP Director of Industry Relations Jason Koss.  Developed in 2008 by the CAWP Constructors Leadership Council, this scholarship was named in memory of Brandon Chaney, an aspiring third-generation heavy/highway construction professional who died at the age of 16 in an automobile accident before he could realize this goal. 

To honor his memory, this scholarship was created to support others who aspire to work in the heavy/highway industry and is awarded to the top-ranking first-year apprentice in each of the four heavy and highway apprenticeship programs in western Pennsylvania. Year after year, the recipients of this scholarship have set the standard for the future workforce of the heavy and highway construction industry in our region.
